“14 tracks inna digital dancehall style”

In the mid 1980's Prince Jazzbo and King Jammy revolutionised Reggae by discarding live instruments and building riddims using entirely digital means. 1985's King Jammy produced "(Under Me) Sleng Teng" was one of the first and best known of all the digital productions and was based around a modified rhythm from the newly released Casio MT-40 keyboard. It paved the way for a slew of versions and imitations made by a new generation of producers destined to shape much of what was to follow over the next two decades. Of course, the digital scene soon evolved into Ragga and became well known for its shameful, viciously homophobic and aggressive lyrical content, but musically speaking digital Dancehall produced some of the most vibrant and thrilling party tunes of the late 20th century and continues to exert influence over the more interesting developments in the Hardcore continuum to this day with its fierce emphasis on stripped, propulsive beats, rugged basslines, edgy stabs and frenzied vocal rhymes. This selection is a wildly selective trawl through a few of the most crucial digital floor-fillers spanning the decade that followed 'Sleng Teng', taking in productions from King Jammy, as well as classics from the likes of Cutty Ranks, Nitty Gritty, Ninjaman and Sugar Minnot in a pure and deadly bashment style.

yeah, the threads are there. Got some shocking early 90's hardcore jungle plates with ninjaman rhymes - big business. Love the bass pressure on these tracks - pure and simple weapon grade party starters.
