“14 tracks deep into Surgeon”

Anthony Child is one of the most uncompromising characters in Techno. With releases under the Surgeon moniker and as one half of acclaimed duo British Murder Boys, his two imprints (Dynamic Tension and Counterbalance) have been steadily supplying the world with dense, complex and percussively fierce arrangements for almost 15 years, creating a deeply respected body of work in the process. If you're new to his work expect to be pummelled by a sound that bridges the gap between the looped Techno of Jeff Mills, the obtuse, squashed funk of Autechre and, most recently, the kind of low-end rubs you'd more readily associate with Dubstep. These 14 tracks dip into his vastly impressive catalogue and make for one of our most exhilarating and intense selections to date.

Awesome set, long been following Surgeon...love his Tresor output but a lot of these are new to me. Another surprise turn, and most welcome too.

“I've just dead and gone to heaven”

The greatest EVER UK techno producer bar none (IMO) Make sure you go check out H.O.G. on the 30th January in Birmingham @ The Rainbow Warehouse & Garden. Great selection, although "Surgeon - Badger Bite - from Pet 2000 EP - [Downwards]" should be on there as a matter of principle

Nice one. I've stepped away from Techno over the years and havent checked for Surgeon for at least 10 years or so. Loved his stuff on Tresor back then, and its great to catch up with newer tings. Great producer, nice selection. Big up.

“great choice for a subject”

I love techno but for the last 3-4 years i've been getting increasingly bored by the minimal thing. Whenever i get on my soap box about it someone always trys to put me on to Surgeon. So i've been wanting to dig in this guys archieve for a while, but it's an intimidatingly large body of work to approach. Thanks for the run down, its a great start

“Nice work”

he's always bigged up, but I've never got it until now. You've done surgeon a massive favour here by curating this mix. Si Begg please
