Untypically emotive strings, a drawn-out build up and ultimately punishing drums...
Brutal, seriously heavy squashed techno from Surgeon and Regis...
One of the more recent Dynamic Tension cuts - 6 minutes of relentless, heavy wares...
Tough clanging synths and intense 4/4 modulation...
A more funked-up variant, like a heavier Soundhack embracing the darkside...
Classic Surgeon circa 2000 - bright percussion carrying over punchy Red 2 style synths.
Scuba reworked with unbridled fervour...

Opening track from one of the absolutely sickest Surgeon twelves...
Cutting percussion and skewed editing backed by those awesome filtered synths...
Opening track from many people's favourite Surgeon twelve...
Skanking dub chords licked into shape over a brittle Surgeon-special.
Another towering percussive sortie from the British Murder Boys...
Giddy metallic techno with a classic looped blueprint.
Robust technoid template underscored by arpeggiated, melancholy synths.

Awesome set, long been following Surgeon...love his Tresor output but a lot of these are new to me. Another surprise turn, and most welcome too.

The greatest EVER UK techno producer bar none (IMO)
Make sure you go check out H.O.G. on the 30th January in Birmingham @ The Rainbow Warehouse & Garden.
Great selection, although "Surgeon - Badger Bite - from Pet 2000 EP - [Downwards]" should be on there as a matter of principle

Nice one. I've stepped away from Techno over the years and havent checked for Surgeon for at least 10 years or so. Loved his stuff on Tresor back then, and its great to catch up with newer tings. Great producer, nice selection. Big up.

“great choice for a subject”
I love techno but for the last 3-4 years i've been getting increasingly bored by the minimal thing. Whenever i get on my soap box about it someone always trys to put me on to Surgeon. So i've been wanting to dig in this guys archieve for a while, but it's an intimidatingly large body of work to approach. Thanks for the run down, its a great start

he's always bigged up, but I've never got it until now. You've done surgeon a massive favour here by curating this mix. Si Begg please
