An edit of the 6th release on Basic Channel, a perfect slice of sweeping dub presence.
Forward to 1999 and a degraded dub killer - so much emotional resonance conjured from so little.
Moritz Von Oswald striking out on his own, M6 more or less single-handedly re-defining Techno.
Of all the Burial Mix killers, 'King In My Empire' is probably the best known and loved...
When this remix of Vainqueur came out in 1993 Techno was inverted and rebuilt in new colours.
Paul St Hilaire, aka Tikiman, with one of several collaborations with Mark and Moritz..
One of Carl Craig's most anthemic tracks rebuilt in a woozy, utterly ingenious fashion

Another classic from 1994, the seventh release in the original Basic Channel series.
Fourth in this incredible five round series on yet another offshoot label - Main Street.
The conquering Lion in the catalogue, surely one of the most sumptuous dub deconstructions ever made...
The staggered dub techno blueprint - forever imitated, never bettered.
Another absolutely devastating standard from Maurizio, hard to believe it's almost 15 years old...
Another one of those tracks that spawned entire careers, how many imitators can you list for this one...
One of the least known, but for our money one of the most moving tracks in the entire BC catalogue...
14 tracks: Never Been To Ibiza
14 Tracks: Quarrying Strange & Heavy Ro…
14 tracks: ClunQ FunQ
14 tracks: Footwork diffusion
14 tracks: Consensual Hallucination
14 tracks: Body Request
14 Tracks: Parallel Pop
Hospital Productions: 14 open wounds
14 tracks: Convective Currents
14 Tracks: Dubstep in Rude Health

“on the effing money”
definately not an easy task, but this is just about a perfect selection. Never knew those 'Round' tracks even existed, has anyone else made electronic music half as good as this?

“New Day!”
Where is Round Two - New Day?! It might not be the dubbiest BC-produced track they've made, but it is certainly one of their best and most celebrated.

“Thanks for this!”
Back in the day, I always found both the minimalism and the 4/4 beats too much to handle. I still can't warm to the 4/4 stuff (although I like the Gas albums these days!), but I don't mind the dubby ones.
Still, minimalism is just so... minimal. Oh well.

“The beautiful hiss”
I'll never forget the first time I heard the contents of that white, funny-looking, cardboard-wrapped CD from Basic Channel. Completely life-altering in terms of musical significance, and proof that hiss, as an artefact, can be as beautilful as dust can be in the hands of a poet.
What a label.

“new music is still possible”
basic channel/r&s have created a new aesthetic in music. 'Carrier' and 'na fe throw it' are the deepest songs ever made. No other music reaches me like this.

Sounds cliché, Basic Channel changed my life. Absolutely incredible sound, don't stop here.

You've outdone yourselves this time! Great selection of, and introduction to (for me), some of the best music I've heard in ages. Thanks!

“Covers?”
Great idea. Embedded covers (or a separate file) would be nice.
