Fourteen jacks: from proto-house to nu skool buck beats! If there's any meme gurning at us from the 'floor right now, it's the perennial influence of Chicago house and European wave sounds. Here we span some 30 years of the jacking spectrum, from Deux's remarkable melding of new wave romance and thunkin' machine beats on 'Everybody's Night' (1985) to the upfront hunk of SOPHIE's 'Nothing More To Say'. In between you'll find Skream getting down with 4/4 on 'Sticky', and Werk's new signing Moire on the squashed darkness of 'Drugs' beside EBM-reinforcements by Mick Wills, Fiedel and Cowboy Rhythmbox, plus authentic Chicago and Detroit bangers from Parris Mitchell and The Oliverwho Factory. And not forgetting their neo-European counterparts, Legowelt, Xosar, John Heckle, Ma Spaventi, Low Jack. We came to get down!
