This time on 14tracks:

“14 tracks: Scando Weirdo”

To while away the long nights and p*ss poor weather, Scandinavians are particularly adept at entertaining themselves, and us, with a panoply of overproof pop and psychedelic musics melding ambient, jazz, disco and electronics. Whether it's Finnish 7 year old Eeliks:en making tunes with his baby bro on a computer, or the likes of Frisk Frugt's frothy toy music - nominated for Denmark's equivalent of the Mercury Prize - there's a certain sort of dreamy, cabin-fevered imagination to much music from the region, or so it seems from our perspective at least. With that in mind we've plucked 14 aces from the database, checking for the eccentric strategies of Faroe Islander Kristian Vester aka Goodiepal, beside the cosmic disco vectors of Norway's Todd Terje and Sweden's Goat, plus lo-fi 'lectronics by Super Jam and Frak, jazz abstractions from Pekka Airaksinen and Lasse Marhaug, heart-melting pop from JJ, and the broad electronic scope of Vladislav Delay, Biosphere, or Hild Sofie Tafjord and Maja SK Ratkje's Fe-mail.
