“The Best of 2012: Part One”

With the endgame imminent we'll try and sum up the 2012 vintage before it's all too late. As usual there'll be four selections covering the gamut of electronic, out-there and essential music, and we thought it appropriate to firstly focus on this end-of-year's prevailing sonic moods; technofied, psychedelic and wavey industrial grooves and atmosphere. There are some unavoidably big hitters inside - we're talking 'The Walker In Blast And Bottle' off Raime's breathtaking debut album; an exclusive and rocksteady taste of the near-future from Powell on The Death Of Rave; the cosmic trajectory of 'Emerge To Space Jazz' from X-TG's ultimate dispatch; warped dancefloor psychedelia from Madteo. There's crenellated intrigue from Helm's incredible album for PAN, riveting post-punk steppers by the enigmatic Moin and Prostitutes, plus techno both primitive and futurist from Amsterdam's Juju & Jordash and 313 hero Terrence Dixon, beside a haul of crucial Hospital Productions by Vatican Shadow, Silent Servant and Rainforest Spiritual Enslavement. Now batten down the hatches, line your bunkers, and start reflecting on a serious year for new music.
