This time on 14tracks:

“14 tracks: Touching Buttons”

Our selection this week looks at a spectrum of women who sing and produce in the sphere of electronic dance pop and the avant garde. It's a kind of follow-up to our 'Strange Angels' selection from a few months back, but with a focus on more moody and explicitly ethereal elements. Consider it a sonic venn diagram of sorts, contrasting relationships between the R&B pop hooks of Lucky Dragon's Yukimi Nagano and the radical vocals of Planningtorock, with the ambiguous moods of Eleanoora Rosenholm and the hyperspace dreams of Laurel Halo or Nightwave. We cover all corners of the world, taking in electronic pop forms courtesy of Korea's Nakion, South Africa's Tiyiselani Vomaseve or Hamburg's Ada, through to the '90s-House inspired sensuality of Maria Minerva and Soft Metals, right up to the technical advances of AGF, Ellen Allien, Julianna Barwick & Ikue Mori. We hope to illuminate the tactile, evocative nuances of mood and groove inherent to the modern electronic sphere, and the eternally affective quality of the female voice and psyche in the music we love so much.
