This time on 14tracks:

“14 Tracks for the end of the rope...”

Indulging darker inclinations, this selection traces a spidery path between the shadows of gothic shoegaze and blank-eyed post-industrial drone pop made by a coven of experimental musicians and some of techno's most vital operators. It was largely inspired by the plangent, machine-driven misery/bliss of recent releases on the Downwards label, as well as that excellent EP from Camella Lobo and Juan Mendez's Tropic Of Cancer for Blackest Ever Black, which surely counts as one of the most arresting releases of the year. To exacerbate the sorrow we've attempted to render that sound into a spectrum of mechanised darkness, from the lugubrious dread of Regis' Six Six Seconds mix to aTelecine's zombied 20-minute improv session. We wallow in the ghoulish grace of Weyes Blood and Alan Vega, while murkier reflections are explored to evocative depths by Andy Stott and Justin Broadrick's Pale Sketcher project. In the spaces between you'll find skeletal EBM/Industrial rhythms from Gillette and Tolouse Low Trax, plus the stoic drones of Sleeparchive's Government Bookshops, all making Bruce Gilbert's 'Epitaph For Henran Brenlar' that much more poignant. Sit back and, err..., enjoy.
