This time on 14tracks:

“14 Tracks: Rambling in the ether...”

Inspired by the enigmatic music of Forest Swords, this weeks selection searches between blue R&B, plangent Shoegaze and psych-dub desert soundscaping for a lost soul. Five years ago, these sounds may perhaps have been considered uncomfortable bedfellows, but in the hands of select operators their essence has been isolated and molded into a shimmering spectrum of emotive goodness, from the shy, lo-fi R&B of How To Dress Well to the inner oceanic drift of Angel Eyes and of course Forest Swords' ethereal folk-dub drone-pop. We've also factored in a few outside connections, gazing from a distance at Ennio Morricone's deeply atmospheric 'Secondo Rito' and a brilliantly cinematic track from Monte Cazazza's 'The Cynic', next to psych-dub from the incredible Peaking Lights album '936' and Matthewdavid's genius reworks of Sun Araw, while the more maudlin moments are covered with reassuring sensitivity on Grouper's heart-stopping 'Sick', Widowspeak's wistful 'Harsh Realm' and the skyward reverbs of Echo Lake's 'Everything Is Real'. Complementing the vibe perfectly, the King Midas Sound remix of Shackleton and Higuma's 'Kaleidoscope Moon' define the balance of effected electronic dread and tender soul. It almost goes without saying, if you've not checked 'Dagger Paths' by now, make it a priority!

Nice selection this..it's led me to discover Peaking Lights(fabulous album)and Pariah..brilliant releases on the mighty R&S record label...now about that Amen breaks selection..PLEEEASE.....
