“14 tracks: The House that Trax built”

Chicago's Trax Records ranks amongst the world's most influential labels ever. Since Rachel Cain and Larry Sherman set it up in 1984 they've released seminal House music from Chi-town's finest, carving out a niche of Afro-futuristic, machine-driven soul whose inspiration is still felt a generation on. With the likes of Mr Fingers' 'Can You Feel It' or Jamie Principle's 'Bad Boy' they laid the foundations for House music, and with the innovations of Phuture's 'Acid Tracks' or DJ Pierre's 'Fantasy Girl' they can lay claim to inventing a whole new genre. Their eternal dancefloor power is constantly being converted into new forms, from the rogue Grime-House of Slackk, to Hot City's sweaty essentials or the momentum of Joy Orbison, who all owe these records a debt of gratitude. Granted, the audio fidelity might not be 100%, but in the heat of the party, walls dripping with sweat and the DJ doing headstands, who gives a f**k?!
