“Listening At Home With Ghost Box”

Are you sitting comfortably? Yes? Good good. For this 14 tracks we'd like to share with you the spellbinding world of Ghost Box and their coven of artists who "find inspiration in library music albums, folklore, vintage electronics, and the school music room". The label was directly inspired by the sadly departed Trish Keenan and her group, Broadcast, with whom the label share the Hauntology tag for their mysterious mixture of occult references and eldritch sonic vision. Since 2004 they've released a beautifully presented array of albums and singles from label founders Jim Jupp and Julian House in their multiple guises (Eric Zann, Belbury Poly, The Focus Group), and their friends from Broadcast, The Advisory Circle, Mordant Music and Moon Wiring Club, among others. Simply put, there's no other label quite like it, crossing sonic ley lines between parallel miniature worlds and chronologies with enchanting eccentricity. Their interzone is exquisitely sculpted like a model village, recreating the evocative aesthetic of pre-digital TV for schools and quintessentially English ephemera, all with a knowing sleight of memory and an oddly melancholy sense of nostalgia.
