“14 tracks: Oneohtrix Point Never”

Daniel Lopatin has cemented his reputation as one of the most interesting operators in the field of new electronic music with the recent release of his excellent 'Returnal' album as Oneohtrix Point Never. Focusing on psychedelic synthesizer experiments similar to predecessors Klaus Schulze or Wendy Carlos, Lopatin also cleverly incorporates techniques borrowed from Musique concrète, Noise, avant-Hiphop and an intrinsic love of MOR radio classics (his name is a reference to local Boston station Magic 106.7). This week Lopatin takes it to the next level with the debut of his chopped 'n screwed pop project with Joel Ford of Tiger City - Games, as well as an influx of digitally reissued material from his treasured archives, most of which were only ever available on minuscule tape runs. So it was kinda inevitable that we'd turn our attentions to his considerable catalogue for this week's selection, scanning everything from his earliest glitch and piano exercises as Dania Shapes through to the gorgeous Games material, visiting obscurities like 'Demerol' under his KGB MAN alias, and the heart-melting sci-fi romanticism of 'Ruined Lives'.
