“14 tracks of narcotic House”

We just love the kind of slow and sultry House Music that's been oozing out of the Berlin club scene in recent months. With its origin in the paralysed shuffle of Detroit's Theo Parrish and Moodymann, this is the kind of music that's in no rush to draw you in, often making use of deep basslines and crushed percussion to play tricks on the senses. There are direct parallels between these tracks and the more robust patterns that typify Dubstep, and with a woozy aesthetic that makes much of this music sound like it's about to fall apart there are also direct links with the Wonky hip hop that's making waves in 2008. Even if you've never been into club music, we reckon this is just about as evocative and heady as it gets...

“best yet”

“Great concept, ridiculous price”

Big big fan of Boomkat and I think this is a fabulous idea - a great way of introducing the often bewildering array of great music you have. But...but...but...£14 for a mixtape? You're havin' a larf, intcha? Come on guys, do an iTunes and price accordingly. Folks need a decent incentive to press that 'buy all 14' button. And right now you just don't have it.

“Mmmmmmmmm nice”

Theo Parrish - That is the goodness! Still need to knock a coupla quid of the price for the bundle here tho - a tenner and I'm in

“Nearly, not quite”

This is a really great concept, but the execution is totally botched. At £6-7 I'd be hoovering these up week after week, but at twice that price, it's terrible value. How can you possibly justify charging more than a physical copy would cost?

“Pricing”

Thanks again for all the comments. We're aware of the pricing issues many of you have raised and all we can say is - watch this space. We have to price things in co-ordination with the record labels and distributors involved so it isn't just a case of us setting whatever price we fancy - but a bundle price for selections is in the works!

“Love it!”

This is sheer genius... everyone I've shown the 14 tracks email to LOVES it! Yeah a bundle price would be great, but I know from experience how difficult that could be to negotiate with all the different labels. At the end of the day music makers need to eat too! 99p a track for top quality downloads is still great value...

“death to the mp3”

wow someone thinks this is expensive ? i think 99p each is outrageous since i have bought most of these on vinyl already at £7 each ! as a label and an artist i am eating tinned dog food while people complain about the price . soon we will be farming out the music to sweatshops in bangalore just to please the punters ...........

“No go for U.S.!”

I have to plop down $28 for these on my side of the pond, which makes me a sad sad Roger Niner. I wish Boomkat would open up a stateside division, and try to help us Yanks out a bit, That being said, I love these e-mails and anticipate the new tunes every week. Boomkat is my number one resource for shopping for music... just not buying :(

“flac singles?”

great selection, but still wondering about being able to download the singles as a flac file instead of an mp3? you got it for the mp3s but why not the flacs eh?

Boomkat is a very good digital download specialist for Underground House and Electronic music,i have only discovered it in the last year after using Beatport and Djdownload since they started this new wave of specialist record stores a good few years back now,and i don't think 99p is too expensive at all.I have been buying vinyl since the early Hip Hop days right through early House to the original 88 Acid House days to where we are at now but i now mainly buy downloads because they are cheaper, and as people have pointed out you should be charging 79p i tunes prices per track but you cannot get the majority of this music on i tunes,it is like your normal commercial high street record shop. This is specialist underground electronic music and on Vinyl/Imports etc it costs a dam sight more. You don't have to buy all the 14 tracks, and for under £14 its hardly breaking the bank.Like the american guy says on here it would be good if you set up a Boomkat stateside,we need to spread this Underground sound everywhere.Keep up the good work.

Spot on selection, well done to all involved. Been a fan of Boomkat for a long time, this platform feels like a natural progression. Pay up and get on it.
